I promised the kid that he could have a mohawk

because it's summer vacation. But I seem to be having a problem pulling out the clippers and actually giving him a mohawk. Part of it is that he has this beautifully thick, wavy red-blond-brown hair that makes little curls at the nape of his neck and that I can mess up whenever he gets to cheeky. Part of it is fear of him looking like some of the world cup players.

I think the people of color win the World Cup of Hair.

Where was all these great hair models when I was growing. Ever trying nappy hair with white people combs? Ouch! Afro's weren't much better. The combs aren't just for decoration. Too much work.

Wow! I am so glad that for once I can say my hair is cool like that!

First off--an A+ for "owning it"!

I promise myself that when I have a child I will encourage unusual hair cuts. I never factored in cuteness and embrace-ability though.
